Technical Assistant: Instructional Design and Learning

Location: Home Office

Start Date: 1 June 2019

Fixed term 2-year contract on post grade C2. Benefits include pension and medical aid contributions, 21 days annual leave, study leave and financial assistance for formal studies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training curriculum design and development
  • Work with new technologies and approaches to allow for updated or new modes of training delivery
  • Perform various roles as designer, content developer, technologist and eLearning developer.
  • Work with Training and Learner Management Systems (TMS and LMS)
  • Work with videos and other eLearning and virtual learning tools
  • Comfortable working with minimal supervision and also working in a team setting

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, diploma or certification in adult education or related field, or equivalent
  • Diploma or certification of Instructional Design related studies
  • Web-based learning/e-learning or virtual learning related certification
  • Qualification in Project Management
  • Experience with Moodle
  • Experience with LMS and TMS
  • Adult learning expertise
  • Experience in leading and facilitating project teams and in working with multiple stakeholders to deliver a product, program or service.
  • Experience and strong technical skills in using a variety of computer software programs used in the preparation and presentation of training materials and web-based learning, including MS Office, web tools (e.g. HTML, SharePoint), learning management
  • Valid driver’s license, willingness to travel and flexibility i.t.o working hours

Technical Specialist: Health Care Data Analyst

Location: Offices of the National Department of Health – Pretoria

Secondment Start Date: 3 June 2019

Fixed term 18-month contract or independent consultancy on post grade D2.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop data management processes and policies as required to track key performance indicators.
  • Identify areas to increase efficiency and automation of processes.
  • Set up and maintain automated data management processes.
  • Identify, evaluate and implement external services and tools to support data validation and cleansing.
  • Investigating data to find patterns and trends such as burden of disease.
  • Monitor and audit data quality.
  • Manipulate, analyse and interpret complex data sets relating to the National Health. Insurance Information Systems and public health sector.
  • Prepare reports for internal and external audiences using business analytics reporting tools.
  • Create data dashboards, graphs and visualisations of structured and unstructured data.
  • Mine and analyse large datasets, draw valid inferences and present them successfully to management using a reporting tool.
  • Comfortable working with minimal supervision and also working in a team setting.

Job Requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification in Health, Data Science, Informatics as a minimum requirement.
  • Master’s degree (MPH Health Informatics or similar) will be an advantage.
  • 4-5 years of experience in an analytical role in the public health sector and working with health data management systems.
  • A good working knowledge of data analysis tools and familiarity with relational databases (e.g. MS Access) and database language tools like SQL.
  • Capacity to develop and document procedures and workflows.
  • Awareness and knowledge of public health care specific databases and data sets.
  • Experience in data analysis techniques.
  • Ability to produce clear graphical representations and data visualisations of public health data.
  • Critical thinking and Problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license, a willingness to travel and flexibility i.t.o working hours.
