This is an exciting opportunity for a progressive, experienced and senior technology leader to take up a new challenge as part of the executive management team of a non-profit organisation in the Health Sector, to:

  • Provide technical vision, and clear strategy that secures the role of digital health as a key enabler of health systems transformation
  • Lead the conceptualisation and development of technological value propositions that differentiate the organisation in the market
  • Lead the organisation’s ICT resources to deliver quality products and services that fulfil the strategy
  • Actively collaborate in identifying and building a sustainable business pipeline of projects that deliver the organisation’s ICT products and services
  • Function as a strategic member of the organisation’s Executive Committee and Senior Management Team, actively supporting the CEO and other EXCOM members to achieve organisational KPAs.

Specialised Technical Support and Quality Assurance of ICT business units

ICT business units’ Financial and Asset Management

ICT business units’ HR Management and Development

Complexity of the Duties

  • Advise on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Remain updated on national and international digital health and related technology policies and strategies to provide guidance on best practices
  • Work with a variety of stakeholders in public and private sector at all levels
  • Be agile, flexible, innovative and adaptable
  • Work effectively remotely and in a virtual office with no immediate support from colleagues
  • An influencer of national and international Digital Health strategies
  • Lead effective implementation and oversight of the organisation’s Product Development Life Cycle and agile project management methodologies
  • Be a change agent within the organisation’s ICT division, and the senior management team, actively lobbying for and leading transformational changes to secure the culture and processes needed within the organisation’s ICT business units for organisational success.

Job Requirements

Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Management or other relevant/ related, as well as Degree Executive/Senior Management qualification

Project Management qualification

Medical background or experience will be advantageous

Specific Job Competencies

  • High level technical skills in Information Systems development and management
  • Experience in managing of an information Communication Technology (ICT) environment
  • High degree of Computer literacy
  • Frequent travel and extended hours
  • Frequently work to deadlines
  • Ability to lead change in a complex and evolving environment
  • Ability to influence the strategic direction of the South African Digital Health sector


Between 5 - 8 years senior management experience in the field of technology and information management

10 years’ experience in the management of information technology teams

Between 5- 8 years research and development experience

*The above experience in the health information environment will be an advantage
